As I rifled through the papers aged with yellow,
I came across a note from a dear fellow.
The familiar handwriting was so worn.
The edges of the page were slightly torn.
But the message came loud and clear.
Dearest Dad I sure wish you were here.
The fish are biting; we could have a great time.
Let's face it we are in our prime.
Then I would be able to say this with a hug,
"Happy Fathers Day you big lug".
I'm sorry that I am so far away.
Circumstances out of my control today.
Since we cannot be together on this holiday.
Just know I am sending a prayer your way.
Lord knows you have been so very good to me.
And He will reward you wait and see.
