A Family Gathering with one empty chair

The holiday season has rolled around.
The songs depict that glorious sound.
The table is decorated with bright colors,
Everything waits for sisters and brothers.

The smell of freshly baked scones fills the air.
All are acutely aware of the one empty chair.
This was his very favorite time of year.
But God decided he would not be here.

It was a family gathering so withdrawn.
The young man we all loved was forever gone.
After a dinner prayer, the silence was broken.
Memories of the boy were fondly spoken.

So you see no matter what the cause,
You just have to take a long pause.
Then recall the loved no longer there.
And then you can ignore the empty chair.
