That Wonderful Time of Year

There is the smell of firewood burning.
You can feel the changing airs stinging.
Soft drops of rain announce an evening shower.
Darkness descends at a much earlier hour.

Excitement rings throughout the household.
The women bring in dishes that begin to unfold
An array of items, fit for a king and his entourage.
Decorations surround the food, it seems like a mirage.

This is truly a joyous time of year.
When families come from far and near.
Gather around the table and say a prayer.
We thank God that we all are here.

Everyday is a day of thankfulness
For, we appreciate that we are blest.
Thanksgiving is a designated day to celebrate.
A time of the year when friends and families conjugate.

Turn to your neighbor and wish him well.
He needs to know that you think he is swell.
A simple Hello and God Bless will do.
Let me say Happy Thanksgiving to you too.
