Another season arrives and brings a lazy afternoon
To herald the coming of a brand new year soon.
I remember as a child, time seemed to stand still
Each day’s demeanor was quiet and tranquil.
I would sit in the tire swing for hours on end.
With a stick I would draw circles in the sand.
I wondered what I would be when I was grown.
But I always trusted the Lord would let it be known.
My Dad was perhaps the most wonderful person in my life.
He was always there in times of great strife.
Even after the bewildering day my Mother left us
I knew, I could always depend upon my Daddy Russ.
I learned how to hunt and fish at his side,
How to appreciate all that the Lord above did provide.
On those slow long days I thought would never end.
My Dad was always my dearest and best friend.
He let me know that everything would be all right,
As long as we follow the Lord's guiding light.
As the years pass now way to fast it seems.
Yesterday appears only in my dreams.
But I am left with a sense of calm and peace,
For my love for Jesus will never cease.
