This was a grand celebration for a joyous new year,
Firecrackers, horns, and singing Auld Lang Syne was everywhere.
The clinking of glasses, the counting of numbers to reach twelve.
Reminiscing and hoping to put past years on the shelve.
Old and new friends spend a night at the ball.
Masquerade is a wonderful custom for all.
When the evening is nearly spent all you can hear
Is shouts of laughter and Happy New Year.
Once more for the last time you hear Auld Lang Syne
As 2008 gives way to 2009
