How am I really like you?
The Holy book says it's true.
Am I the only one who has trouble
Grasping the power of your life's struggle.
You offered yourself to the Father to cleanse us,
From the stain and sting of death because
Of your love for us and future generations.
You were cursed and disgraced by your own nation.
My heart aches when I read of your agony and passion,
Not one of the crowd was moved with compassion.
On the cross blood and water flowed from your side.
You even forgave them before you died.
My Dear Jesus ,I have know pain and sorrow.
Disappointment in the ones I love but on the morrow.
Things change and it is a brand new day.
Because of your sacrifice and the price you paid.
We are the sons and daughters of our loving Lord.
Let us learn forgiveness, it's the least we can afford.
Jesus ,I can be like you as long as I follow your lead,
To bless all men regardless of their creed.
I will carry you in my heart for all to see
Then perhaps I will be more like thee.
When the time comes for us to meet , I pray you will say
Well done my faithful servant you are welcome this day.
You have earned a place in the City of peace
Where God and his angels offer an eternal lease.
