Well Geronimo was just thinking over all the things that had happened on his assignment
for the Lord. It was about time to make a home visit and get Gabby established with an
e-mail account. She was much younger than a lot of his other children but being as bright
as she was, he had no doubt that she could handle communicating with him. He thought
he would visit his other families in the area too.
He checked with the weather bureau and heard that Florida was besieged with rains and
cold. He made sure to pack his sou'wester (yellow slicker).
He was anxious to see how Gabby was doing and also had to check on Trudy her guardian
angel and find out how she was doing with human adults. This was not a regular
assignment for Trudy but she was a perfect choice because of her dancing ability.
Geronimo was thinking about introducing Gabby to Alyssa, true Alyssa was a few years
older but she would make an ideal best friend for Gabby. I'll bet you didn't realize that
some divine person chooses best friends.
I'll bet you didn't know how lasting friendships occur, that thing they call coincidence
is part of a master plan.
Well enough planning Geronimo packed all his necessary magic equipment and
set off for the windy, rainy cold Florida. It was a windy, blustery day when he arrived
far from the warm steady climate of Make Believe Land. He found his way to Alyssa's
house without difficulty and was pleased to receive such a delightful reception.
She and her mother were always the most pleasant and appreciative people, when
Geronimo suggested that Alyssa would be a wonderful friend for Gabby,
they wholeheartedly agreed. They thought at first they might be able to call on the
phone and then move on to e-mail. Geronimo told them he would see if Gabby and her
family would be agreeable.
Geronimo had a long trip and they all felt they needed a bit of shuteye. He had brought his sleeping bag with him and curled up on the floor. Alyssa's mom brought him a stack of pillows and comforter and before long it was like sleeping on a cloud.
The next day he caught up on how Allie who was doing with her
homework, as usual it was 100% correct.
She knew that by the time she got home from school he would be gone. But like Geronimo had always told her nothing
must stop in the way of a good education, and attendance was the most important trait.
Geronimo told her that when he found out about Gabby he would let her know and set up
a 3-way-conversation on his cell phone.
He put on his fairy wings, which he had dusted with de-icing material because it was so
cold and rainy. This was sure irregular to have this kind of weather in Florida.
His first stop on reaching the hometown of Gabby was to look up Trudy and get her report.
As usual Trudy was consumed with the idea of getting Gabby to dance.
It was very difficult for her to realize that she could not just wave her magic wand
and make it happen. It required an immense amount of time and effort on Gabby's part.
This was typical behavior for an angel.
She even had a tutu picked out for her. Geronimo had to convince Trudy that it would
be nice to have her pick it out herself perhaps she would not appreciate black for a color.
There were no problems as far as Geronimo could ascertain but he would have to observe
it for himself. First he wanted to see how resilient the adults were to his plans for
introducing the girls to each other. It turned out to be a grand idea and the
Mother and Grandmother gave their full approval. So without further adieu
Geronimo presented Gabby with a cell phone with the instructions that the only
numbers programmed would be to Ally's house and of course to Make Believe Land
in case she needed him.
Well Gabby was so delighted she told Geronimo she had a lot of friends but just knew Ally
was going to be special.
They had a test run to see how it worked. Gabby followed the directions that her
grandmother gave her regarding the use of the phone. She dialed the number and
after a minute or two her a sweet voice say to her "You must be Gabby I am Ally
I hope I am going to be your new and best friend."
Before long they were chatting back and forth like they had known each other forever.
The grandmother just beamed with pride indeed she thought my little Gabby is growing
up and now has a new best friend.
With this Geronimo put on his slicker donned his wings and headed for home.
He had made all his goodbyes before making the call.
On arriving at home he knew he had to make his reports and needless to say he was
so glad he had good news to give the Boss and Lil Boss.
Now that he knew all was well with his girls in Florida he settled in for a nice long
nap in his own bed instead of a sleeping bag.
