Geronimo's Tales by Carol G Oliver

Lil Boss and Geronimo's Special Assignment

Once upon a time God had a very special angel named Gabriela.
He endowed her with a beautiful spirit of love. When it came time to send her to earth to complete a family he knew that they had to be a special as she was.
After much deliberation he consulted with Geronimo to get his expert opinion. He had a family in mind but needed to know if Geronimo would be able to keep his eye on them and communicate with them. The little elf came back with a profound Yes!
It was wonderful that the Boss would want Geronimo and Lil Boss to be his private investigators. He recruited a legion of Angels to assist. Of course the family was not aware of their presences except for a glow that filled the home. Geronimo found out that the father was a fireman and a first responder at any disaster. Seems like he was away a lot of the time.
The mother was a Registered nurse. Gabriela had two brothers and an older sister they were absolutely delightful children well mannered and gentle, caring youngsters.
There was only one thing lacking and that was they all wanted another girl.
The mother prayed everyday that God grant her another beautiful baby girl.
After spending a period of time observing the family Lil Boss and Geronimo agreed that it was certainly something they could manage. So they went back to report to the Lord that they were agreed in taking on this special Assignment. It seems they had to wait in the outer lobby for God was busy with some recent disasters.
He was lecturing Mr. Wind for He had gotten to powerful and caused so much destruction (called a Hurricane) and those Fault guys had been stretching too much and this poor old earth just couldn't hold itself together (called and Earthquake)
When the Lord had time for Lil Boss and Geronimo he listened patiently to the needs of the family. He decided to assign a Guardian Angel named Gertrude, who preferred to be called Trudy to this baby girl.
With a grand gesture God place his thumbprint on her soul as a form of protection from all life's evils. These things he had done to make it easier for Lil Boss and Geronimo to keep track of this lovely child.

From the time Gabby (as she became known) was born, she brought much sunshine and joy to her whole family, especially her Grandmother Jan.
Now Geronimo had a special way of talking to Grandmothers and Jan was no exception. She could hear his tiny voice and experience his jovial nature.
It was easy to keep an eye on this adorable little girl and he could do it from afar.
He took great pride in the fact she was truly independent and at the young age of four could do things for herself. Even though Geronimo was not there much of the time {for he had to take care of Make Believe Land} Trudy was always hovering over Gabby without her knowing it. So when things were just a touch out of reach they suddenly appeared in Gabby's hand. Of course it was thought the older children always came to her rescue, But we know better------!

Gabby got to know Jesus at an early age when she attended Bible Study with her Mom. She loved to dance and sing in order to celebrate her Lord. She loved to dress up and wanted to learn to dance. Hardly had she spoken these words and Trudy began to beam. It seems she was a musical guardian angel and in charge of dance schools in heaven. Of course it was much easier for her because there was no gravity, it was Trudy's responsibilities to teach all the fairies and angels the technique of floating on air. But this would have to wait until she got one year older.

It seems she always had to wait either for her to grow or get older. She wanted to ride on the Soaring Ride at the Amusement Park but she just barely made the height requirement. She jumped with glee when Nannie told her they could go on the ride; She climbed up in the seat like a big girl and helped the man buckle the seat belt.
"Just think Nannie this is like driving in the sky, Look below the people look like ants." Just then the seat jerked and sputtered her eyes got very big but she said in a calm voice "Don't worry
Nannie everything will be okay." Now how did she know that Trudy was holding up the seat to keep it from rocking?
I guess she had such a good relationship with Jesus she knew he would never let them fall. When they got back on the ground they saw where one of the big beams had started to buckle, the attendant said they had a small quiver almost like a mini earthquake.
She and Nannie drove home in silence pondering about what had happened. T hey were almost home when Gabby said "Nannie Can we bake some cookies when we get home?" "Yes Darlin said her grandmother if that would make you feel better."
Gabby answered so solemnly "Yes Nannie I always feel better when we bake something."
The Grandmother smiled and pondered this in her heart.
She knew somehow that Geronimo had something to do with all of this and she would discuss it with him someday.
But after the cookies were done and Gabby had said her prayers they curled up for a sound sleep. Tomorrow was another day.
