Geronimo's Tales by Carol G Oliver

A visit to Santa's Candy land

Well the holiday party in Make Believe Land was over.  Geronimo sat down with a sigh of relief.  It was indeed a grand affair.  Lil Boss had come over briefly and received his presents, which made Angel fairy very happy.  He was impressed by the brightly colored boxes and of course of the wishes.
He did not stay long for he had some things to take care of for the Lord.
Before Geronimo knew it Angel fairy had a team of fairies cleaning up Make Believe Land and soon it was in tiptop shape.  The only disappointment was that Santa had been unable to come but Geronimo understood for this was indeed Santa's busy time of year.  He had elves to supervise in making toys, reindeer to groom for the long trip around the world but even with all that he had been kind enough to invite Geronimo to come up for a visit.
With this in mind he e-mailed Santa and accepted the invitation.  The response from Santa was joyous.  Mrs. Santa had also added a note asking him if he liked fruitcake.  Why of course who doesn't like fruitcake?
He dusted off his fairy wings, contacted Lil Boss and the Big Boss that he was going to be away for a day or two.  Angel Fairy gladly took over in his absence.
This time he set the moonbeam for the North Pole and in the twinkling of an eye he was off to visit Santa.

As Geronimo flew over on his way to Santa's house he saw the snowman welcoming him, He smiled and thought to himself That Santa really is a grand fellow to even put out a welcoming committee of one.

When Geronimo arrived one of the places that Santa was most proud of was his toyshop and a head elf named Tim.  Here Geronimo saw all the toys that were being produced for the children on earth.

Geronimo did not intend to stay long because he knew that Santa had so much to do before taking off to deliver all the gifts at Christmas.  However he did visit the mailroom, which Mrs. Santa managed with about 30 elves.
True there is a Federal post office but little known fact is that they make daily trips to pick that up as well as the letters that come directly to them.
Yes Virginia and all you lovely children "There is a Santa"
After seeing the post office Geronimo sat down to a lovely meal cooked by Mrs. Santa.

He spent a delightful time with Mr. & Mrs. and all the funny little elves.  For the first time he had met some of his very own relations, these were certainly different than the folks he met in Ireland.  He decided these were really elves not leprechauns.
There was one place that he really was interested in
seeing and that was the computer office.  He had written so many and received so many e-mails he was interested in meeting Santa's secretaries.  He was surprised that Leo and Liz were the only two at the computers receiving and sending e-mail

He spent a few comforting hours in Santa's Den but kept getting interrupted by a little elf looking under the furniture.
With this interruption Santa took him out to the Reindeer Barn.  He watched while Santa gave each and every Reindeer their assignments.
But one little fellow was really in tears because there wasn't one for him

Santa was a kindhearted old gent and finally found some equipment hoping it would fit the little guy.  But needless to say it was a lost cause.
Geronimo thought he better avail himself to the weather station and find out what was in store for him on the way home.  He had a pleasant trip up here but was not used to the cold and the snow, so he went over to the station to find out what was ahead of him. He listened intently while the little fellow told him what was in store for the next three days.  Wind, and heavy snow which he called a blizzard.  It became clear that he was going to have to cut his visit short.

Time was getting away from him so he approached Santa in his den where he was finishing up some bookkeeping.
After talking it over with Santa it was decided that the prudent thing to do was to return to Make Believe Land.  Santa told him he was always welcome to come back for a longer period of time and he still was going to make a trip to Geronimo’s home base.
With no further discussion he summoned his fairy wings and set the course for home. But he thought to himself
"What a wonderful place is that Candy Land He certainly had a lot to share with the Boss and Lil Boss."
