Geronimo's Tales by Carol G Oliver

The First Visit with the Boss's Son

The time had come for Geronimo and Jesus to have a meeting regarding duties, transportation etc.
Geronimo spruced up Make believe land to make sure the soda pop falls were running smoothly, the cotton candy & bonbon trees were dusted, and the gumdrops bushes were all in place. One of the angel fairy's came to help, you didn't know angel's had fairy's too? Well, of course they just seem to be earning their angel wings, which were more advanced.

Just then Geronimo heard the angel fairy in distress "Oh, My what to do! What to do!"
He asked her what was the problem and she answered " We don't have any special treats for the Lord's Son"

Geronimo scratched his head and thought for a minute then answered, "Do we really know what Jesus would like? I hear he works all sorts of miracles, like feeding the multitude (approximately five-thousand) with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish."
"We can wait and see what he likes".

It was not long before he heard someone whistling as they approached the falls, who would have thought that Jesus whistled. But then why not a carpenter raised him, worked as a carpenter and Geronimo knew a lot of carpenters; they all whistled. Whoever it was they seemed to know the entrance behind the falls to make believe land. Sure enough a beautiful ray of light beamed over the whole land.

"It is Jesus, It is Jesus” The angel fairy danced up and down.
Geronimo thought to himself, ” I must teach that fairy how to do the jig. He also noticed the Jesus just glided about 5 inches of the ground. "Umm!" He thought.

He went to shake hands but Jesus bent down and gave him a kiss on the top of his head.
They huddled together to work out the plan as to how they can be most effective. It wasn't long before they lapsed into using nicknames. Jesus suggested that he could be called Lil Boss. Geronimo decided he could be called Ger or Gerry. They decided that brothers did not need to stand on ceremony. Geronimo let Lil Boss do most of the talking (after all he had seniority). His heart leaped with joy when it they decided that transportation need not change, unless it is beneficial for them to go together for safety's sake. He was really afraid he would have to give up his fairy wings (he loved catching a moonbeam).

He marveled at what a really neat guy the Lord's son is. He was wishing they had a case to work on for he knew it would really be easier and not nearly as lonely. This thought made a light bulb light up above his head and it suddenly dawned on him that his earlier state of depression was due to loneliness. Now he realized how crafty his boss really is.

He asked Lil Boss if he had a desire for a treat. His answer was, "Do you mind if I have one of those delicious looking licorice sticks over There near the gumdrops?"
"Why no go ahead" answered Gerry Well it was getting late and soon they had to say good-bye. After a big brotherly hug, Geronimo watched his new and awesome friend depart.

He said out loud, " What a wonderful and regular guy the Boss's son is. I am so lucky!” With that he kicked his heels up.
