One day Geronimo was sitting under a favorite chocolate bon-bon bush, and much to his dismay, he was feeling sad. He had absolutely no reason to be down and out, but was experiencing some really weird feelings. How could he possibly help out with peace on earth when he felt this way? His magical powers were absent because you had to be joyful to do magic.
This was really troubling and he decided he would have to talk to the Boss himself. But before he could make an appointment, the Lord sent a message on his e-mail that they should talk.
Well, with this he changed his leprechaun suit, put some fresh bubbles in his pipe (gave up tobacco long long ago).
He tried on several facial expressions but always came back to the sad
look. He put on his hat and was off to meet the Lord upstairs. It was a long climb but he finally made it. He was sure that the reason the climb was so high was because that way God didn't get bothered by trivial things only important stuff.
The big golden gates were open like they expected him. An angel led the way to the special quarters where there were beautiful rooms and offices.
He found himself in a large room with overstuffed furniture that was way to big for a little elf. The angel brought out a little overstuffed chair just for him. It was bright green, (just his color), and very gay looking.
He sat down to wait for the Lord but it was not a long wait. He came in floating off the ground, with a smile and hand outstretched. Geronimo was amazed at how beautiful and regal he looked.
He was curious as to why he had been summoned. It was like the Lord was reading his thoughts and by jiggers he was!!!!
His voice was booming but in a way also soothing as he began to speak.
"Geronimo, my little friend, I have observed that your work has been exemplarily; you have touched so many lives. I am so proud of you . I wonder if you would considered helping my son with some of his workload?"
"Who me?" gasped Geronimo "You want me to help Jesus but how? His tasks are so special and he has such special abilities."
"Yes!" said the Lord "But sometimes the demands are so tasking, even for the divine hosts."
"You would not have to move. On the contrary, you are in a position to know more of what people need."
"I would like you to expand your base to include more adults, as well as the children."
"I will fill out a job description for you. It will not be much different from the one you have now, only you will be reporting to Jesus. I want you both to be available in emergencies to travel and to consult on major issues. You have a good head on your shoulders and I trust you explicitly. I know that you can ease the load for my son. Are you willing to accept this promotion?"
Geronimo stuttered and stammered a bit replied "Yes, Lord, for you anything. I do thank you."
As he was getting ready to depart, the Lord said one last thing to him,
"Oh by the way, for that sad feeling, have a marshmallow, sit out one night and count the stars--That's how much you are treasured."
"By the way take that little chair home with you." There God went again reading his mind.
When he got home from the audience with the Lord, he found an e-mail from Jesus that read,
"Welcome aboard, little brother!!!"
Geronimo felt a smile creep across his face. His world was good and he no longer had that sad feeling.
